Our September LeadAbility cohort have officially joined our growing Community of Practice following their Graduation Ceremony. What a fantastic group of leaders they are!

On their final Experience Day, our cohort presented their Community Projects. These are initiatives that aim to positively impact the lives of people with disability.

  • Project 1: A series of ethical flash cards to educate the public on the etiquette of interacting with people with disabilities.
  • Project 2: A project that aimed to raise awareness of services that are inclusive to people with disability and how they can be accessed. They developed a social media page utilising their #PledgeForInclusion to create an online repository that highlighted inclusive goods and services.
  • Project 3: A collection of poster resources aimed at destigmatising and educating people on how to interact with minority communities. They seek to share the posters on Perth's public transport network.

Thank you to our Mentors who generously donated their time, insights and support to our cohort throughout their LeadAbility journey and Community Projects; Adrian Bautista, Jane Forward, and Leadership WA's Jessica Jackson!

Chris Kent, Board Member of the WA Disability Services Commission, People With disabilities Western Australia and Leadership WA, addressed the cohort on behalf of Mike Rowe, Director General of the Department of Communities. Chris congratulated the graduating cohort, encouraged them to stay connected with each other and to celebrate their achievements.

Congratulations to our Valedictorian, Trae Flett, who delivered a speech thanking her fellow cohort and Mentors. Trae reflected that "self awareness was the greatest learning of this cohort" and that the group "will hold onto their values tightly".

We look forward to seeing what all our new graduates go on to accomplish!

Thank you to the Department of Communities WA (Disability Services) for generously supporting the LeadAbility Course.

Applications for April 2024 are now open.
