About Leadership WA
Since 2004, Leadership WA has taken more than 1,000 emerging and established leaders from all sectors through challenging and inspiring world-class development programs. We are an independent, apolitical not-for-profit organisation, and we believe in the power of stronger communities through development of leadership capabilities and collaborative social impact initiatives.
Programs
Our Leadership Programs embrace reflective learning. This approach encourages participants to examine their personal experiences, cohort and the many highly influential external speakers who contribute throughout the Programs. It also challenges participants to question and critically assess their deeply-held assumptions and how they relate to the wider world.
Alumni
Leadership WA Alumni are a strong and influential network of today’s and tomorrow’s leaders, making real and meaningful difference in the community. Our Alumni have the capacity to set the standard in addressing social challenges.
OUR SOCIAL IMPACT
We are the catalyst for change. We transform leaders into influencers who inspire and motivate others to achieve great things. Our immersive programs instil courage, skills and tenacity in our participants, giving them the powerful potential to lead transformational social change.
NEWS AND EVENTS
2018 Signature Leadership Program Owner, Oaks Civil Construction
The Leadership WA Signature Program has provided me with the opportunity to form invaluable relationships; meet, hear and discuss multiple topics and key issues surrounding our communities, economy and systems of WA with leaders from all walks of life; while also providing an exclusive insight into their leadership journey and styles of inspiring leaders. This has supported me in finding my best self as a Leader that allows me to lead my team, influence change, challenge systems and processes, and give myself-permission to fail while taking calculated risks to be innovative and provide a space for continued improvement and most importantly time for reflection. This opportunity has given me great belief in my ability and I have no doubt this experience has given me great tools and knowledge to continue along on my leadership journey and assist others along theirs.
2004 Signature Leadership Program Managing Director, Aha! Consulting
The Signature Program was an amazing melting pot of people and ideas that still influences my way of working today.
2007 Signature Leadership Program CEO, Cancer Council WA
The Signature Leadership Program is probably the best program I’ve ever done. It’s an opportunity to really both question your own views of things, and be challenged with new ideas and new thoughts. There was a great energy. I built some really strong relationships with my cohort.
2018 Signature Leadership Program Operations Manager, Mindarie Regional Council
Underpinning the value of program was the access to so many prominent leaders from a wide variety of industries. The honesty in the discussion prompted us to challenge our own values and beliefs about what ethical leadership means to each of us.
2012 Signature Leadership Program Director, Career Wisdom
The Leadership WA Signature program helped me re-examine my beliefs about leadership, exposed me to real issues across Western Australia and facilitated connections that continue to broaden and deepen my network of leaders who truly care about this state and its people.
2017 Signature Leadership Program Australia Day Ambassador and Principal Consultant Diversity and Inclusion, Western Power
Participating in the Leadership WA Signature Program was a transforming experience. There was a great amount of personal learning in terms of understanding myself and learning to be more authentic and vulnerable. I would highly recommend this program and encourage companies and organisation to invest in their leaders and allow them to participate in this transformative experience. We all have a leadership role to play in shaping the current and future direction of our amazing state, Western Australia.
2009 Signature Participant General Manager, CSBP Ltd.
Every other course I’ve been on has an alumni network, but it just doesn’t compare to the Leadership WA Alumni.
2020 Rising Leadership Program Manager, Alumni & Community Relations, Curtin University
The Rising Leadership Program was incredibly transformational for me, and perfect timing while I transitioned into my first manager role. I’ve spoken openly with colleagues about my Rising Leadership experiences, and have found myself subconsciously implementing my learnings at work; and only later realising I have done so. Above all, I’ve connected with many extraordinary people, and have learnt that I don’t need to change to be a good leader – I can be myself, and that’s okay.
2019 Rising Leadership Program Senior Project Manager, Vital Images
Rising provided me with the opportunity to reflect on my professional and personal journey, both past and future, and helped me better understand how I could be more effective and impactful through my actions. Not only that, Rising also provided me with an incredible network of people that I can now call on for guidance.
2017 Rising Leadership Program Head of Business Planning and Reporting, Western Power
When I was accepted on the Rising Leadership Program in 2017, I thought it was the worst timing. So much was going on personally and professionally, and I just didn't think I had the time. It was in fact, the perfect timing. I realised how taking the time out for yourself and developing your leadership skills, both at work and home is really important. The Rising Program makes you more effective, allows for the space and opportunity for reflection. You can give so much more as a leader.
2018 Rising Leadership Program Project Communications Lead, Rio Tinto
The Rising Program certainly exceeded all my expectations of a typical leadership course. It challenged my values, the way I lead both in my professional and personal life and it provided me with access to learn from some of WA's most successful leaders. The Program also allowed me to represent the NFP organisation I work for and raise its profile and our cause but most of all, it introduced me to a cohort of colleagues that will most definitely be a part of my professional life long after we graduated.
2018 Aspiring Leadership Course Australian Electoral Commission
I would definitely recommend this course to others. I don’t remember the last time I thoroughly enjoyed a training course like this.
2018 Aspiring Leadership Course Australian Red Cross
This course has made me more aware of my leadership style and how I can adapt to support members of my team based on how they would work best.
2018 Aspiring Leadership Course
This course was really important for my personal and professional development. I learnt so much and I am now less afraid of change.
LeadAbility Graduate 2017 Managing Director, 30 Foot Drop
LeadAbility helped to clarify my vision and find my voice when it came to what I actually wanted to do. Since my time in the Course I have shifted industries, now running my own business with four employees, I am an active board member of the local community bank and all whilst using the skills that I developed during LeadAbility to ensure I create lasting change in my community.
2018 LeadAbility Course
LeadAbility has helped me understand myself and how I connect and work with others on a deep level. It’s a great way to further yourself and learn from a great cohort of people with an amazing, positive energy. I started using the Course learnings in my job after one day.
Tailored Solutions Bega Garnbirringu Health Service
The quality and content of the training was exactly what I was looking for and I could not believe how positive and energised the Leadership Group was. This will have a significantly positive impact on the future workplace culture at Bega. Thank you Leadership WA.”
Board Member, Arts Access Australia
Coralie Bishop has been an outstanding and invaluable addition to the Arts Access Board. We are so pleased with the appointment and the company is benefiting greatly from her input.
There was a high degree of professionalism/general high calibre quality about ALL of the Leadership WA respondents to our board vacancy advertisement. I would highly recommend the Skillsbank to others and indeed have done precisely this on a number of occasions already.
Executive Director, CC Home Care
Because of the Skillsbank initiative, we got an excellent person into our organisation. She has been an asset and helped us out an awful lot. She's very skilled and experienced in our sector. I'd definitely recommend Skillsbank to other not-for-profits.
