The Leadership WA Story

We are champions for leadership.

Since 2004, Leadership WA has taken more than 1,000 emerging and established leaders from all sectors through challenging and inspiring world-class development programs. We are an independent, apolitical not-for-profit organisation, and we believe in the power of stronger communities through development of leadership capacities and collaborative social impact initiatives.

We are champions for leadership. We champion those who make a difference, who go on to impact the world from the invaluable experiences and the journey on which we take them.

Through our immersive programs, we instil the courage, skills and tenacity in our leaders to make an impact and create stronger communities in Western Australia and beyond.

We are committed to empowering a diverse range of Western Australia’s leaders, because leadership comes in many forms. Creating stronger communities requires great leaders, and we are the catalyst.

We recognise that leaders have the potential to make a real difference and our Alumni and participants set the standard. In 2019 alone, Leadership WA Alumni committed to more than 1,900 hours of their time and expertise to community-based not-for-profits through our Skillsbank initiative.

Our approach to Leadership Development

Our Leadership Programs embrace the use of reflective learning. This approach to learning encourages participants to examine their personal experiences, the experiences of their cohort and the experiences of the many highly influential external speakers who contribute throughout the Program. This approach ensures relevance, boosts self-confidence, and increases personal growth whilst challenging participants to question and critically assess their deeply-held assumptions and how they relate to the wider world.

In 2015 Murdoch University conducted a study with Leadership WA to assess the effectiveness of this approach. The study found that the Signature Leadership Program acts as both a compass, navigating participants into new self-discoveries; and a beacon which participants can use to negotiate their inner discoveries. Through this reflective approach to learning, Leadership WA Programs increase leadership wisdom, and graduates become better leaders in their organisations and the community, contributing their skills to building the capacity of others.
