Date: 17 April 2024

On 17 April, we welcomed Alumni and guests to KPMG for our second Alumni event of 2024, ‘Leading with Authority in an AI World’.

In the engaging session, our speaker Dan Hookham, founder of Component6, delivered a mini masterclass on the rapidly developing field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Dan stated that one of the biggest risks for organisations is not taking AI seriously.

He stressed that organisations need to be aware of the latest developments in AI and suggested that to embrace AI responsibly, start small, educate and be organised. It is important to create vision for AI in your business, and to communicate and educate your teams.

‘AI is not a technology challenge anymore. It is a people challenge’.

Dan also explored some of the potential benefits AI can bring to existing processes such as data management to lead to increased productivity, reduced cost, reduced risk of efforts and streamlined job processes.

The morning concluded with a thought-provoking question-and-answer session, which covered areas that included how AI will create generational workforce challenges and the potential difficulties leaders may encounter.

Many thanks to Dan for being our keynote speaker, and to Dr. Ian Martinus (Signature 2013), Head Commercialisation & Impact at Cybersecurity CRC, for facilitating the event, and to our attendees for their challenging and insightful questions.

We also thank KPMG Australia for hosting us.
