In this immersive experience, Alumni set off to provide for their fictional household in the Foodbank warehouse, quickly becoming confronted with the hardship of feeding a family while adhering to a narrow budget amidst the soaring living costs.

Kate O’Hara, CEO of Foodbank and Moria Aynsley, Marketing and Communications Manager, shared the harrowing facts below:

  • 1/3 Australian households are facing food insecurity
  • ½ million households are struggling top put food on the table and households with children are more likely to be impacted
  • And 54% of these families have somebody in paid work

Alumni considered the causes of hunger, how they can be addressed, and the partnerships required for impact. The session concluded with Alumni pledging their individual leadership commitment to work towards ending hunger in WA.

Our thanks to the Foodbank team for such an eye-opening experience and the opportunity to learn more about this alarming crisis and what needs to be done.
